Police Recommend Businesses Have Updated and Properly Installed Surveillance Systems

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

An story published by WALB in Georgia discusses law enforcement recommendations that businesses have up to date and properly installed surveillance systems.

WALB and other stations around the country often will air surveillance footage to help the police and the public identify and capture wanted perpetrators. Unfortunately, many times business’ surveillance is not up to the task. Many businesses still use old VCR-based CCTV, which lack in video quality, lack in appropriate frame-rate, etc. These systems are far less likely to produce the necessary evidence to identify criminals.

Additionally, many systems are installed by end-users or by contractors who do not truly understand how to properly position and direct surveillance cameras to best achieve a satisfactory result.

Georgia police point out that it is vital that businesses update their old systems to current, digital DVR systems, and consult surveillance professionals to assist in installing cameras the right way.
